India-Bangladesh Relations: In an important change, the interim government of Bangladesh has recently issued an order to recall diplomats of 5 countries including India to Dhaka. These include India’s High Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammed Abdul Muhith, Australia’s High Commissioner M Allama Siddiqui, Ambassador to Belgium Mehboob Hasan Saleh, and Ambassador to Portugal Regina Ahmed.
This order was issued by the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh with instructions to return without any delay. This step may have been taken due to dissatisfaction within the country’s foreign service or due to other internal reasons, because these appointments were not political.

Situation worsened after Sheikh Hasina’s resignation
The political situation in Bangladesh has been unstable in recent months following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her departure from the country. Hasina resigned from her post on August 5 due to increasing protests and took refuge in India. After this, an interim government was formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus. Meanwhile, due to political instability in the country, there have been allegations of attacks on minority groups, especially Hindus, although the interim government has described these attacks as political rather than religious.
